In part 2 we will look at some really neat ideas for the use of Basil EO.  We are sure there are a lot more uses out there, but here are some of our favorite ones so far.

  • When feeling overwhelmed, apply a couple of drops on feet (especially under the big toes) or diffuse into the air.
  • Add 3 to 5 drops to shoe laces to keep mosquitoes away.
  • Cook with it!!!  (Basil butter is delicious!) For great recipes click here.
  • Mixes well with Bergamot, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon and Lime.
  • As a pest control (especially to deter flies) you can diffuse Basil in your home or apply some oil by your doorframes and windows.  You can also put some oil on a cotton ball or ribbon and place in areas where pests would normally come in.
  • Application Methods for Basil EO:  Aromatically, Topically, Internally and can be used topically without dilution (NEAT).

What do you use Basil for?  Please share!

Note:  For internal use of Basil EO make sure it is (food grade) 100% Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.  From personal use and experience we recommend doTerra’s Essential Oils.  For topical use we also recommend Eden’s Garden Essential Oils.  This is just our opinion and suggestion, so please feel free to do your own research and share!

The more we learn about the benefits of Essential Oils, the more we want to share with others. This is why we have focused this week on providing information and sharing resources for your convenience. Below is a link to our doTERRA web page in which you will find an intro to Essential Oils. It covers the definition, history, uses, extraction, grades, and safety of Essential Oils. We have chosen doTERRA Essential Oils, because we truly like their purity and quality. However, after you learn about EOs you will have a mission to find the ones that you trust and like the best. Our mission is to use what we trust, provide quality products and educate.

Thanks to Swanson Vitamins blog!

Sure you have noticed we LOVE Essential Oils! However, our knowledge about essential oils did not come overnight and it continues to expand. We truly enjoy learning about all the many benefits that essential oils have. We want to share with you some books that have been very useful as guides and information.

One of our favorites is “Modern Essentials Usage Guide: A Quick Guide To The Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils”. There are two versions of this book, a mini guide and a full version. These guides cover everything from the Science to the Application of essential oils. To learn more about the book click here for the mini guide or here for the big version of the book.

Another useful book is “The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils“. It is an in-depth book, but easy to understand at the same time. Check it out by clicking here.

Hope these are helpful! If you have any book suggestions, please feel free to share! We value your input and feedback!
