In part 1 of our Basil EO coverage we talked about ailments Basil can be helpful for.  If you missed that post, click here to read part 1.

In part 2 we will look at some really neat ideas for the use of Basil EO.  We are sure there are a lot more uses out there, but here are some of our favorite ones so far.

  • When feeling overwhelmed, apply a couple of drops on feet (especially under the big toes) or diffuse into the air.
  • Add 3 to 5 drops to shoe laces to keep mosquitoes away.
  • Cook with it!!!  (Basil butter is delicious!) For great recipes click here.
  • Mixes well with Bergamot, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon and Lime.
  • As a pest control (especially to deter flies) you can diffuse Basil in your home or apply some oil by your doorframes and windows.  You can also put some oil on a cotton ball or ribbon and place in areas where pests would normally come in.
  • Application Methods for Basil EO:  Aromatically, Topically, Internally and can be used topically without dilution (NEAT).

Note:  For internal use of Basil EO make sure it is (food grade) 100% Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.  From personal use and experience we recommend doTerra’s Essential Oils.  For topical use we also recommend Eden’s Garden Essential Oils.  This is just our opinion and suggestion, so please feel free to do your own research and share!
